Food Safety License

Sections 26 to 39 of the Food Rules and Regulations of Bhutan (2017) aims at the enhancement of food safety and the orderly development of the food industry by defining hygienic minimum requirements for food businesses and procedures for licensing of food businesses and their operators. All food businesses, big or small, whether operating from a business premises, at home or from a mobile unit or food stall, must be aware of the legislation regarding food hygiene and food safety. Ultimately, you are primarily responsible for ensuring the safety of the food you produce.

Food business operations must comply with the Criteria for Good Hygienic and Manufacturing Practices for Licensing of Food Business. For details on Food Safety License issued to Food Business Operators by BAFRA as of 1st September 2021, please click HERE.
